New York Fashion Week Day Four - Part Two

Derek Lam started the day off with a collection focused on blazers, cropped pants, and fitted cocktail dresses varying from hot pink to pin stripped to polka dots. Each model was styled in slicked up-do’s and neutral make-up to keep the focus solely on the clothes. The collection utilized a variety of fabrics from silk and cotton to leather and mesh.

DKNY stood out setting her show against a real NYC backdrop with a yellow cab and models walking in right off the side walk. This show also made bold use of structured pieces with button down jackets and dresses to pencil skirts and dress pants. She also focused heavily on patterns with pieces in floral prints, stripes, and primary color patterns. This collection really showed the girl on the go with models showing dramatic hats and attention grabbing handbags to coincide with the larger than life color scheme of the designs.

Tracy Reese took the structured theme of the day and added a feminine twist to it. Her designs were all accentuated in either ruffles or playfully detailed hemlines and hues of pastel pinks and teals. The fabrics were very flowy yet still form fitting with models in a variety of shoes from stilettos to wedges to chunky sandals. But the real stars of the show were the bright fascinators and pastel parasols made to match the feminine designs.
