New York Fashion Week Day Four - Part One

Custo Barcelona debuted an intricate spring collection full of color and glitz for both men and women. It’s difficult to narrow down a specific look or trend that Barcelona was focusing on because of the mere volume and variety in each of his outfits.

His male models were spotted down the runway in structured suits and tailored pieces, though that’s not to say they were anything less than exciting. Bright greens and colors and deep hues filled the detailed patterns on vests, suit jackets, shorts, shoes, and everything in between. The male pieces were anything from preppy argyle sweaters to shimmery summer tank tops.

His female models posed in even more detailed looks, showcasing maxi dresses, form fitting dresses, glittery party tops, suit jackets and bathing suits. There was definitely no shortage in variety, color, glitter, or fabulously tall and daring heels on any of the models.

Barcelona’s collection seemed to be modeled after worldly, ethnic traditions from every corner of the earth. Unlike many other designers over the course of week, his fun and vibrant collection immersed the models and audience alike into a world of adventure.

Diane Von Furstenberg debuted a spring collection full of vivid colors and patterns on the runway this afternoon. Almost looking beachy, her variety of feminine and billowy fabrics complemented the bright florals and color palettes effortlessly.

Her collection contained a variety of fresh pieces, including everything from prim, proper, and put-together to gorgeous maxi dresses with bead detailing.

Though her pieces were bright, they didn’t overpower the look themselves. The colors were tasteful and made each look pop with a sensible amount of glam layered over whites and natural, muted colors. Von Furstenberg’s collection contained color-blocking, mono-chromatic, and patchwork styled pieces showcasing a variety of different spring trends.

Lace, cotton, ruffles, and shine were the perfect fabrics to create the most flattering and glamorous feminine looks.

Showcasing his spring collection, Tommy Hilfiger seemed to utlize traditional, simple patterns to dramatize each look. Stripes, plaid, and pleats were seen on many of the models in a variety of different bright and deep colors.

Hilfiger played up buttons, bows, and leather on dresses, trench coats, and as embellishments on the shoulders and necklines of jumpsuits and sweaters.

Aside from the bold stripes, a few pieces of a muted, almost floral pattern were used on jumpsuits and rompers as a great look for underneath his staple of leather jackets. Leather in reds, nudes, purples, and yellows were worn as jackets, dresses, and skirts.
