Copenhagen Street Style

Hello there, I'm Haley and i am another new addition to the FJC! I love fashion blogs, i could look at them all day long; but then again, who couldn't?! I have been following Copenhagen Street Style for some time now, it is one of my favorites. They take pictures of fashionable people seen on the streets of Europe. I love looking at the pictures and then being able to translate what I saw in to my own wardrobe. However, it is luckily already cooled off over in Europe and I am stuck here in the Arizona heat wishing it were fall. I want to wear my scarves, boots, and sweaters so badly. So anyway, the other day on CSS, I came across this little gem...

I love the oxford shirt paired with the skirt, not to mention those shoes. I about died and went to heaven. It seems that most of the hemlines are rising this coming fall and spring and I absolutely love it! Be sure to check out CSS, it is always an inspiration!

Goodbye Summer White, Hello Winter White

In Phoenix it's hard to really put the old "No white after Labor Day" rule into play because our weather really doesn't make it applicable. Lucky us, we get a couple more weeks with our favorite whites.

But those of you who saw low 90s in our forecast this week know that our time for summer, eyelet and linen whites have officially expired. Time to put those breezy, white pants and flowery blouses in storage.

HOWEVER, winter white this year is in the making. It's not hard to wear, and with all the leather back in, this winter's white is going to be like a breath of fresh air.

Stick to rougher, heavy fabrics like leather, wool, and bouclé. Pair the stark pale with your favorite black boots and gloves. If you're not totally used to the fresh-snow white, winter look, then go for the off-white or creamy white color when you can.

Here's a gorgeous Armani Blazer, beautiful with charcoal pants and shoes:Long-sleeved dresses are on top charts this winter, too. Great for Phoenix, and great in white. Here's one by Ralph Lauren Black Label:

Although it's always a pity to put away our light, free-spirit whites, this winter has got the fashion world wrapped around winter white--so, don't be too sad.

Yours truly,
Emily Timm

seeing black

Hey this is Holly. I'm a new member of FJC and super excited for all the fun events we have in store including Phoenix Fashion Week next weekend!
I have to admit, Fashion Week was just the excuse I needed to finally go shopping (which I have been rationalizing against due to my pittance of a budget).
As is typical, the volunteers were requested to come dressed in monochrome black. However, I own four things in my wardrobe that are black: a big sloppy sweater, adidas sneaks, a knit vest, and a hand-me-down dress from my sister, so I was definitely hitting up the mall this weekend.
Considering my closet's severe black deficiency I mostly picked up boring basics that you probably don't care to look at. These two are the only things I bought that actually have some personality.

necklace: Forever21, jacket: H&M
I got this jacket for only $25 (originally $35) through H&M's "10 Years of Fashion in The USA" promotion. They're taking $10 off different featured items every day (October 1st-10th) of the promotion. More than one item is featured everyday so you're sure to find something you'll like for a great price.

Wishing everyone a happy week,
Holly

lace

my favorite lace top. pieces like this can be doubled up with a long sleeved shirt underneath or a cute winter jacket over it to make heads turn when you take it off!

Valentino Pre-Fall 2010

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2010 line
Balmain Winter 2010 line

Some of the Biggest names in fashion such as Valentino, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, and D&G are featuring gorgeous Victorian lace pieces for their pre-fall as well as winter 2010 lines! I think that lace is a beautiful detail for any type of clothing and can be very versatile while still remaining classic. just remember that when keeping up with the trends of each season to try to remain fashionably realistic! lace will always be a great look, neon however, not so much. Above are a few of my favorites as well as my own take on the look!

Cheers, Alex

MARCHESA

Designers Georgina and Keren's brand Marchesa has by far the most beautiful dresses in their fall collection. I couldn't figure out which one was my favorite because they were all so beautiful. In 2008. Miley Cyrus wore Marchesa to the AMA's and Sarah Jessica Parker also wore it this year in March at ShoWest in Vegas. I think it's the fact that they are so wearable for not only red carpet events but also something that you could wear to a wedding and or an evening event that you'd have to dress up nice for. These designers collections give everyone the ability to be able to wear these dresses to anything they may need to dress up for. I think thats great because, sometimes I may see beautiful gowns that I would never personally wear unless I was going to a red carpet event or an awards ceremony. So, lets thank Marchesa for a beautiful selection of ready-to-wear dresses!

These are my favorites for the Spring 2011 Collection:
