Yesterday four runway shows kicked off New York Fashion Week. Nicholas K debuted his collection with a mixture of earthy tones used to create numerous boho chic clothing. Next was the BCBGMAXAZRIA show, which featured many neutral colors with an abstract pattern or color blocking. The theme at this show was a sheer train that draped from many of the dresses. During the Richard Chai show, repitition seemed key as a yellow striped pattern and a pink and purple floral pattern appeared multiple times. Vintage seemed to be a collective theme throughout the show. The day closed with a Tadashi Shoji show featuring tiered skirts, flowery cocktail dresses and long grecian gowns. The trends for spring/summer seem to be light fabrics with layering and mixing textures. It also included materials consisting of light and neutral colors which made the primarily loose-fitting clothes seen in each of the collections shown.
