For Scottsdale Fashion Week, I was able to attend the Project Ethos event at Axis Radius. Once inside, the venue was decorated with displays of art along a wall inside and outside the patio area of Axis. Some were very risque while others reminded me of works done by Pablo Picasso with a twist. The fashion collections were displayed in a photo shoot style, which enabled photographers to get a closer look and the audience to see the collections still for a moment as models posed.
My favorite collection was Cardiwrap by Kymaro. The line was very innovative filled with fashionable wraps that transformed from dresses, to sweaters, to tops and just about anything you could think of. Ranging from 60 designs, the wraps allow anyone to show their unique sense of style. Designer Romy Fazeli says mentions that confidence is key in any size and Kymaro stands for feel good, at any age and size.
"Confidence is #1," says Fazeli. And in truth if you are wearing something that gives you confidence then of course you'll feel more comfortable in it. While fashion isn't just about the clothes, it's about how you wear them. This simple design shows how sexy you can turn one look to the next.
The next collection which was very unique was Desiato Khan. The style was very victorian-esque which looked like it had several inspirations, The designer mentioned that it is a very medieval earthy collection and that he likes to bring a little costume into everything he does.
"I think people should enjoy being someone other than themselves,"says Khan.
These local artists definitely set themselves apart with their uniqueness. The eventwas enjoyable and had a great mixture of fashion, art and music.
