Retail Frenzy: Are Deals Worth the Bruises?

Target has been successfully bringing affordable luxury to consumers since 2002 with the launch of the Isaac Mizrahi for Target collection, but no one expected the retail frenzy that followed the release of Target’s new Missoni collection.

This frenzy of shopping mania is a reoccurring theme among shoppers who abandon all morals for everything from sales to store openings to the most outrageous of all, Black Friday.
            
Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman, said to USA Today, "This was Missoni mayhem," also adding that it was “unprecedented”. Target had anticipated a huge reaction, but was still unprepared for the mayhem that ultimately ensued. They had even created a temporary store in Manhattan that they had planned to keep open for 3 days, it sold out in 6 hours.
                  
The next designer set to collaborate with Target is Jason Wu, whose Spring 2012 collection will debut February 5th. Many wonder if this collection will be as popular as Missoni. The collection will be 60s inspired and also include both handbags and scarves.
            
With Black Friday, quickly approaching at the end of November predictions are already being made about what the big sellers will be this year.
            
Department and low budget stores such as Kohls, Sears, Wal-Mart, and Target will be participating in Black Friday this year and many suspect smaller boutiques such as Urban Outfitters will as well.
